What Benefits Are Included?

The types of pensions available include:

• Veterans’ pension: These benefits are only available for veterans and their families. The veterans pension is a tax-free benefits package reserved for veterans who were active in the military for at least 90 days, with at least one of those days occurring during a war. For veterans who were active after September 1980, it is only available if they served two years with at least one day during a period of war.
• Survivors’ pension: This pension is for spouses of deceased veterans who have not remarried, children of deceased veterans who are under the age of 18 or became disabled before 18. The deceased veteran must not have been dishonorably discharged.
